Co-hosts West Indies announce squad for T20 World Cup 2024.

Rovman Powell will lead West Indies in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024.

Kyle Mayers, who participated in the Australia series, has been left out of the Windies squad in favor of a lower-order batter instead of an opener. Pacer Oshane Thomas has also been left out. The Windies are expected to have Johnson Charles, Brandon King, and Shai Hope occupying the top-order positions.

The team has many big hitters and all-rounders, including Nicholas Pooran, Andre Russell, Shimron Hetmyer, Powell, Jason Holder, Sherfane Rutherford, and Romario Shepherd. Akeal Hossain and Gudakesh Motie will handle the spin-bowling department, while the pace battery will be led by vice-captain Joseph with the support of Joseph.

West Indies is in Group C, along with Afghanistan, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, and Uganda. They will begin their campaign on June 2nd against PNG in Guyana. 

The eight teams will be divided into two groups of four, with the top two teams in each group advancing to the Super Eight phase. The top two teams from each Super Eight group will then progress to the semifinals, with the final on June 29th.
