Selection chair George Bailey believes Australia has a well-balanced squad and is confident of a strong showing in the ninth edition of the T20 World Cup.
“This is an experienced squad with extensive World Cup experience that offers a variety of structures and covers the scenarios the panel believes will factor in the West Indies with the unique nature of the venues and our opponents,” Bailey said, as quoted by the ICC.
Mitch Marsh has been appointed as the captain of the Australian team for the tournament. He will have the support of experienced players like Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood, David Warner, Travis Head, and Adam Zampa to guide him. Moreover, all-rounders Marcus Stoinis and Cameron Green have made it to the final squad. Josh Inglis and the seasoned Matt Wade were included as wicketkeepers.
Veteran batter Steve Smith, young batting sensation Jake Fraser-McGurk, experienced seamer Jason Behrendorff, and all-rounder Matt Short all missed out as 2021 T20 World Cup champions named their squad. With the likes of Marcus Stoinis, Glenn Maxwell, Cameron Green, and Mitchell Marsh complementing their frontline attack, Australia has a range of batting options that allow for a tailored approach to each venue and opponent.

Australia will start its World Cup campaign against cricketing minnow Oman in Barbados on June 5. It has also been grouped with defending champions England, Namibia, and Scotland.
The eight teams will be divided into two groups of four, with the top two teams in each group advancing to the Super Eight phase. The top two teams from each Super Eight group will then progress to the semifinals, with the final on June 29th.
